Yes it should automatically work as a yoke if no joystick is plugged in

Seven-G Demonstrator Version 1.03.2  Carrier Landing practice.
Some good tips.
Note your heading :355 degrees. Speed: 400 Knots. Height: 630feet.
(So the carrier will be steering 360/000 degrees)
[If you mess up the landing and do a 'Bolter', the reciprocal (reverse) course to get back round for another attempt will be 180 degrees.]

Before start (don't press P yet)

Lower gear, G, Lower flaps, F, lower hook, H, press Alt A,  to pre-engage Automatic Throttle Control (ATC).
Also press Alt L,  for LSO.
Then press P, and you're set up for landing.
NOTE: the speed has now decreased from 400 knots to 198 knots.
The power will set itself because of the configuration you are in so the speed will be correct and looked after by the ATC.
ILS bars are also then pre-engaged.
Just look to the left of the HUD for the AOA symbol,    (you should maintain it between 7.5 & 8.1 degrees),
the carrier Centre Line      and the AOA indicators outside the left of the HUD.
(Center one lit up in green indicates correct AOA on glideslope).      [top yellow too high, bottom red too low]

Eventually LSO will provide guidance.

Don't 'flare' before landing - just relax and fly in!

OK,3   ?

Go for it!

The point is to get the Tail Hook to the right place over the wires for them to 'Trap' it.

To do that the aircraft has to be in the correct attitude and at the right speed with the correct angle of approach to do just that.

Try the following for an excellent quality training aid:
'Carrier Qualification Training Tutorial' for FSX F/A-18, go to:http://vimeo.com/2950519 for "OK,3"  'The Art of the Carrier Landing'.

after that set up the sim without 'ATC' and practice until you successfully build up the skill of landing on a carrier -
a postage stamp sized moving airfield in the middle of an unforgiving ocean.........

go for it!
